This condition is called frozen shoulder.
Physiotherapy is very effective in the case of frozen shoulders. This condition is corrected by exercising in the right way for frozen shoulders. So let us now know about frozen shoulder exercise today
PASSIVE SHOULDER RANGE OF MOTION EXERCISES
This is done by an expert physiotherapist. The way to do this is that the patient is made to lie down straight. After that, the physiotherapist gives a moment to the hand which is affected by the frozen shoulder. The main purpose of doing this is to increase the joint range of motion.
During this, physiotherapist hands give different moments. It includes flexion, up suction, external rotation and internal rotation.
SHOULDER TOWEL EXERCISE
This technique is adopted to increase the moment of the patient’s shoulders. Under this, a towel or sheet is given to the patient. Keeping it behind the back, hold it with both hands and pull it back and forth. It’s a bit painful to do in the beginning. But gradually everything is back to normal.
SHOULDER ACTIVE RANGE OF MOTION
This exercise is usually done when the condition of the patient is somewhat better and the range of motion increases. Under this, the patient repeats certain exercises without any help as prescribed by the physiotherapist. It includes flexion, reduction, and external rotation. This is done at least two to three times a day and this exercise is repeated 10 to 15 times at a time.
ISOMETRIC SHOULDER EXERCISES
The way of doing this exercise is that the patient is made to stand directly in front of a wall and keeping both hands on the wall, is asked to press the wall. The patient tries to press it for at least 5 seconds. This is done at least 10 to 15 times at a time.
SCAPULAR STABILIZATION EXERCISES
If there is a frozen shoulder, the patient’s scapula also gets tight. Because of this, its function is also not good. In such a situation, a scapular stabilization exercise is given to make it active again. After learning this with the help of a physiotherapist, the patient can repeat it himself.
ROTATOR CUFF STRENGTHENING
Exercise is done to strengthen the rotator cuff, it is done with the help of a resistant band. The patient gets relief very quickly
PENDULUM EXERCISE
The way to do this is that the patient is slightly bent and one hand is placed next to him on a table or some other object. And now, the kind of shoulder that has a problem, the hand on that side is asked to move like a pendulum down in the air.
OVERHEAD PULLEY
A patient with a frozen shoulder is asked to pull a pulley. This pulley is located above the patient’s head, so it is asked to pull it with both hands. The aim is to raise the affected arm of the patient and thereby increase the range of motion.
Apart from all these exercises, depending on the condition of the patient, the physiotherapist can also get the patient to do some different types of exercises.
The physiotherapists decide how long and how many times a day these exercises are to be done, considering the patient’s condition.
